Joaquin Phoenix was on his way to becoming a serious and highly respected actor when he pulled an about-face and quit acting to focus on a new career path: music. Specifically, rap. So far, his performances have been mediocre at best, leaving many questioning his artistic sincerity, not to mention his sanity.
Gwyneth Paltrow, who starts alongside Joaquin in the upcoming romantic drama Two Lovers, has some advice for Joaquin: "Hmm ... maybe to go live in the projects for a few years to get some authenticity, maybe."
Gwyn isn't buying Joaquin's actor-turned-rapper bit, either - she voiced doubts to MTV UK during a press spot for Two Lovers.
"I think that there might be some other explanation or something going on. I'm not quite sure what, but I can't believe that he's really going to quit [acting] forever to become a rapper," she said. "It seems odd."
(No shit, Gwyn.)
"I'd like to take this opportunity to announce that I'm quitting acting to become a rapper," she added. "So, I'm going to write 'good-bye' across my knuckles and everything. Do you have a pen?"
