Jackie Chan is putting his star power to good use. While at a recent go-green initiative in Singapore, the actor and martial artist disclosed the steps he takes to reduce waste and and save water while traveling - which includes pocketing complimentary hotel soap.
"Some people dispose the toothbrush and soap after using once or twice. It's a waste," he says, adding that once he's opened the soap, he takes it with him and uses it until it's finished.
"As long as items are provided free of charge, everyone will just use as much as they can; I always tell the hotel staffs, they should consider charging people for the items they use, so that they will think twice before using."
Very good point indeed, Jackie.
While staying at hotels when traveling, Jackie washes his undergarments in his rooms and tells the cleaning staff not to change his bedding daily in an effort to conserve water. On set, he encourages his production team and stuntmen to get in line for the washroom at the same time. According to Jackie, "The last one flushes!"
During concerts, Jackie also prompts his audience to take their water bottles with them instead of leaving them behind.
"Artistes make their appeal and the audience usually will respond to the call. That is the power of celebrities," he noted.
Kudos to Jackie for doing his part to reduce his carbon footprint and to encourage greener thinking!
