Autism controversy and Jett Travolta

The facts aren't ringing true about the tragic death of Jett Travolta.

Not the facts surrounding his tragic death, but whether or not he suffered from autism.

Travolta and wife Kelly Preston, shown above at a Scientology anniversary function this past August, are strict followers of the religion and believe that mental illness does not exist.  Autism, according to Scientology, is a mental illness.  Although the Travoltas claim that 16 year old Jett suffered from Kawasaki Syndrome, experts state that seizures are a rare if non-existent part of the disease.

Although seizures can be controlled by medication, Scientologists are against their use.  And the Travoltas admitted today that although they had tried anti-seizure medication, Jett was no longer using it as they believed that it did not work.  Apparently Kelly was trying to manage his illness through dietary changes.

If it is true that Jett did suffer from Autism we can only hope that they did not mismanage his treatment.
