Second City show, I was in awe of everything.
I just wanted to touch the same stage that
Gilda Radner had walked on. It was sacred

Tina Fey: mother, wife, award-winning actress and writer. Comedienne, impressionist (you betcha!) and, as was recently revealed in Vanity Fair, a survivor of a random act of violence.

It wasn't until I heard the recent buzz about the origins of Tina's facial scar that I realized she even had one. I was shocked when I read about how she got it - Tina was just five years old when she was slashed by a stranger in her front yard.
FIVE YEARS OLD. Slashed. By a total f*cking freak. In front of her OWN HOME.
"It was in, like, the front yard of her house, and somebody who just came up, and she just thought somebody marked her with a pen," Tina's husband of seven years, Jeff Richmond said, adding that to him, the scar was "fascinating."
"This is somebody who, no matter what it was, has gone through something," he said. "And I think it really informs the way she thinks about her life."
"It's impossible to talk about it without somehow seemingly exploiting it and glorifying it," says Tina, which is why she doesn't talk about it. She's never felt embarrassed about it, though; from the sounds of it, the scar is something that she's accepted as just another a part of herself.
"It's really almost like I'm kind of able to forget about it, until I was on-camera, and it became a thing of 'Oh, I guess we should use this side' or whatever," quipping that "everybody's got a better side."
