About a month ago I noticed a lot of interesting chatter among other bloggers about a teen book called Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. What can I say, I'm a sucker for peer pressure so I decided to check out the book to see if what everyone was saying was true - and my gawd, they were right. I'm completely addicted.
Like many best sellers (this one has been on the New York Times list for 30 weeks and counting), the book has been turned into a movie due out this November 21st. It will be interesting to see how well it is adapted for the big screen since book to movie is usually a gamble. But I'm hopeful for a successful leap from my minds eye to big screen since the director is Catherine Hardwicke (Thirteen and Lords of Dogtown) and the screenplay was written by Melissa Rosenberg who also writes for Dexter - a personal favourite of mine. These signs point to a great movie.

For those not familiar with the story, Twilight is a love story with vampires and all sorts of cool supernatural stuff that has twists on the classic myths of yore. Dang, I can't believe I just used the word "yore". Now don't dismiss the romance and intrigue since it is a teen novel. The story line will appeal to many as will the main character Bella. She is intelligent, a fringe dweller in teen social circles, and now is the new kid in town. Bella meets a mysterious and unbelievably beautiful boy named Edward at her new school and it would be a slight understatement to say they get caught up in a truly unorthodox romance. I love me some unorthodox romances.
I don't want to give away any more of the story for those who haven't had the pleasure of reading the books or are waiting for the movie but here is a nice little teaser trailer to whet the appetite (for blooooooooood):
Personally I can't wait because Edward and Bella totally have me hooked.
*I'm not ashamed considering it's a book aimed at teen girls and I'm a woman who is like 20 (+19) years old.

I'm reading her other book The host right now - not bad either.

I loved the first 3 books- kind of indifferent on the fourth. Really what's not to love about guilty pleasure reading. These books definitely fit that bill. The movie should be pretty interesting....
