Hollywood's voice of reason belongs to...Kathy Griffin?

After years of working in a business that ranks looks above all else, Kathy Griffin has had an epiphany, of sorts. She's come to terms with the fact that she's never going to rock the 36-24-36 figure and has thrown in the towel on cosmetic procedures.

"I’ve been off the junk, as I call it, for five years. I’ve had face lift, eye job and all that stuff five years ago. What I found, though, was that it didn’t help me one bit," she says in the September issue of Fitness magazine. "It didn’t get me happier or didn’t make me look particularly younger."

Kathy has, according to Celebitchy, had quite a bit of work done, including a round of liposuction on her stomach that left her near-death after a bout of internal bleeding. While she once felt she needed to look a certain way in order to land jobs, she's ditched that line of thought, too.

"I really thought ageism is so prevalent in Hollywood, especially in standup — it’s such a male dominated zone," she says. "I thought, 'Dammit, I got to do everything I can to look my best.'"

So she turned a new leaf, taking the Age Ain't Nuthin' But A Number approach to life and focusing her energy on who she is, as opposed to who she isn't.

"So that’s my new thing — I like my body now. For 47, it’s pretty darn good."
