Avril Lavigne, Canada's token angry alt-rock chick, might not perform in Malaysia at the end of the month on account of her extreme sexiness.
Yeah, you read that right.
According to the Islamic party, Avril's act is too sexy for the likes of Malaysian viewers. A party official has asked the government to cancel her August 29th show, saying, "It is considered too sexy for us...it's not good for viewers in Malaysia. We don't want our people, our teenagers, influenced by their performance. We want clean artists, artists that are good role models."
Avril is many things: talented, no doubt. Pretty, definitely. Influential? Yup. She's always come off to me as a little full of herself and kinda bratty, but sexy?
Avril can either be flattered that she's considered too sexy for Malaysia or be insulted that she's not a good enough role model for them; ten bucks says she doesn't care either way.
A meeting to discuss this sexy situation is supposed to be going on today, with concert organizers hopeful they can work things out. Other female artists who have performed in Malaysia in the past - Gwen Stefani and The Pussycat Dolls - have had to tone things down and stay covered up. If the Pussycat Dolls can pull off a performance in Malaysia, I don't think Avril will have a problem.
