It was only a matter of time: after pictures of Gwyneth Paltrow modeling the fall/winter collection by Italian designer Tod's - pictures she's wearing fox fur in - appeared on the company's web site, PETA has slammed the actress, claiming she's setting a "terrible example" for her young children.

Tod's is a swanky "luxury goods" designer that, in addition to fur, uses ostrich and snakeskin to create clothing and accessories for beautiful people: footwear, purses, jackets...the very things I scour the clearance rack at Wal*Mart for. Gwyneth and her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, are vegetarian; Gwyneth is said to practice a green lifestyle that includes yoga, holistic methods and a strict macrobiotic diet.
Both PETA and Respect for Animals director Mark Glover wasted no time denouncing Gwyneth's decision to model fur.
"Gwyneth Paltrow should be ashamed," said Mark. "I can only assume that Paltrow either is ignorant of the facts or lacks human decency and compassion."
From PETA: "Gwyneth Paltrow won't be the apple of her daughter's eye if she continues to flaunt fur. It's a terrible example to set for a young child, promoting an industry that electrocutes animals, snaps their necks and skins them alive."

In addition to calling Gwyneth, PETA has reportedly sent her informative videos, but have yet to get a response.
I'll bet my bottom dollar a lot of people out there are crying hypocrite over this - can a person be a vegetarian and model fur? I really have no leg to stand on; I eat meat and I suspect my wallet is leather, but I'm interested in hearing from you. What are your thoughts?

I think everyone draws their own lines on this, depending on their reasons for being vegetarian. If it's a health-conscious decision, then leather is not the same issue. If it's about the use of land for crops, it's sort of not the same issue. And so on.
As for me, being a carnivore of the highest order, I figure that at least by also wearing leather shoes as well as eating meat, I'm at least using the whole animal, and not having it die for just one purpose. So you know, ethics is all relative...

The girl hangs out with Madonna, she doesn't have a clue about integrity or decency evidently. Must be really superficial
