Christina Applegate is cancer-free (as I told you yesterday), but it was at a cost: a double mastectomy.
During her interview this morning with fellow cancer surviver Robin Roberts, it was a tough decision for her but rather then facing the possibility for the cancer to return in a few months, she opted to have both of her breast removed. Her decision to have the surgery, which took place three weeks ago, was solidified by watching her own mother suffer through reoccurances years later.
"I didn't want to go back to the doctors every four months for testing and squishing and everything," she explained. "I just wanted to kind of be rid of this whole thing for me. This was the choice that I made, and it was a tough one."
Christina plans to have reconstructive surgery over the next eight months and will be returning to Samantha Who? when taping resumes in September.
