First comes love, then comes marriage...

You know how the rest goes, right? Then comes a baby in the baby carriage!

Ryan Shawhughes, Ethan Hawke's former nanny turned wife, had the couple's first child, a girl, last Friday. As far as celebrity baby names go, hers is actually fairly low-key; I actually really like it.

Clementine Jane Hawke is Ethan's third child; he's got two kids, Maya (10) and Levon (6) from his marriage to actress Uma Thurman.

(An aside - I've always liked the name Clementine; it's such a cute, spunky name, and Jane is one of my favourites - a strong classic. I like the way they go together. Do you?)

Of fatherhood, Ethan has said in the past that it's his greatest pleasure in life.

"It's the only role that, if I fail, I will consider my life a failure," he said back in '06.

Congratulations to the new parents, and to Maya and Levon on their new half-sister!

there was a Clementine in one of my baby programmes last year, but mostly, I love the chapter book by Sarah pennypakcer about a little girl named Clementine - actually, there are two of those books, now, and somehow, she manages to be spunky without being a brat. (I'm looking at you, Junie B.!)
