Seriously, what's not to love about Johnny Depp? He's smart, he's sexy and incredibly talented. He's known for his acts of goodwill; not only did he donate $2 million to the hospital that treated his daughter, Lily Rose, after she suffered kidney failure last year, he also dressed up in his full Jack Sparrow regalia and read to the children there. And now, he'll be known for keeping his promises, too.
Johnny was on location in Wisconsin shooting scenes for Public Enemies, in which he plays 1930's bank robber John Dillinger, and twelve-year-old Jack Taylor couldn't help but admire the star's fedora.
"All I really said was 'Can I have your hat?'," Jack recalled. "And he said 'When I'm done with it, it's yours.' He was actually pretty cool."
And guess what Jack got in the mail last Thursday? A package from Infinitum Nihil, Johnny's production company, filled with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory swag and the hat Jack had asked for. There was also a note inside for Jack from Johnny, which the star had signed himself.
Jack's parents, Kris and Matt Brand, had contacted Johnny's agent - who happens to be his sister - after he'd promised his had to their son, and not only did she send her brother's hat for Jack, she sent along things for Jack's siblings, too - all four of them.
"It's not exactly the easiest thing to make all five kids happy, but they did a good job. It's finally nice to see a celebrity being nice and following through on his promises," Jack's father said. "He promised Jack his hat and he followed through. It's really cool."
TOTALLY cool. As if I needed another reason to love Johnny Depp - the guy is awesome.
