This is probably the most exciting theatre-related news I've read in a long time: The Addams Family is coming to Broadway!
It gets better: Bebe Neuwirth, the Tony-award winning actress who millions of people know as Lilith from Cheers, is set to play Morticia.
Can you imagine anyone else playing Morticia Addams?
As for who will play Gomez, it's been said that an offer has been made to Nathan Lane. While nothing is official yet where he's concerned, rumour has it that he's going to do it. According to the New York Post, Nathan was on the bill for Catch Me If You Can, but the offer to play Gomez was one he probably couldn't refuse.
The Addams Family musical is to start in the '09-10 season, and that is one show I would LOVE to see. How awesome would Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth be as Gomez and Morticia? It really doesn't get much better than that.
