This is the kind of story that really gets to me. The idea of someone stealing the remains of anyone, anonymous or famous, is insane.
Anyhow, reports say that Courtney Love discovered the remains were gone along with thousands of dollars worth of clothing and jewellery. Kurt's remains were apparently kept in a bear-shaped pink bag along with a lock of his hair.
She has been quoted as saying she is "suicidal" over the discovery of the theft and that his remains "were all I had left of my husband. I used to take them everywhere with me just so I could feel Kurt was still with me. ... Now it feels like I have lost him all over again".
I can't help but wonder if the theft of his remains was either not intentional, the act of crazed fan, or someone out to make some money. Regardless of "reason", I can only imagine that it is horrifying to lose something that you brings you closer to lost loved ones. I hope someone realizes what they have done and return them back to his family.
