Britney Spears and Mel Gibson?

On vacation? In Costa Rica? Together?

Say whaaaa?

'Tis true. Hollywood's most unlikely pair, Britney Spears and Mel Gibson, left yesterday for an impromptu vacation at Mel's Costa Rican home.

This isn't the first time the two have spent time together. Mel and his wife, Robin, met up with the Spears clan several times after Britney's meltdown back in February to help them deal with the singer's ongoing life crisis.

Mel and Britney were spotted sharing a meal together in March, but their ties go back back to Brit's Malibu days - the two used to be neighbours.

Britney's dad, James, and Mel's wife were a part of the trip, which is probably a good thing. Britney and Mel taking off to Costa Rica on their own has WTF written all over it.

"They're just going away for a few days to relax," a source told People magazine. "There are no expectations, there is no agenda," the source added. "It's simply an act of human kindness – one neighbor reaching out to the other."

Mel and Brit have one thing in common: they both seem to have a touch of The Crazy, so even if the weather's crappy during their little getaway, I'm sure they'll get along just fine.
