I don't know about you but I watched every episode of the original 90210 at least twice, possibly three times because I once spent a month not working in Florida and every morning FX ran two back to back episodes and it always was a really old one in the first slot and then followed by a more mature episode (like I got to watch Kelly on drugs and dating the cop from Third watch - totally fun to watch again). Awesome or what? And the episode where she goes on a bender was called Snowbound - how cute is that?
Anyhow as you may already know that they are remaking 90210 and I'm getting a kick out of the some of the casting. Here is a rumoured family said to be taking up residence in one of the most famous zip codes ever.
Rumoured to be playing the Cindy Walsh kind of role is Jesse's wife from Full House - Lori Loughlin. She will apparently play Celia Mills, an ex-Olympic athlete who relocates to Beverly Hills with her family. Her husband is the new principal at Beverly Hills High.

I'm embarrassed to say that I've probably watched a whole lot more Full House than I care to admit. Let's keep that one quiet. Anyhow, she looks a bit young but this is Beverley Hills after all. So let's see, so far we have an former top athlete, who else do we need in this family?
In the role of the drunken ex-tv star grandmother, Jessica Walter is said to be playing Tabitha Mills, mom to Celia. So we have an ex-Olympian with a former 70's tv star mom. Got it.

I don't think this role will much of a stretch from Lucille Bluth but oh my gawd, I loved Lucille so now I'm intrigued. Maybe it's a great script - maybe she has a mortgage to pay? Who knows.
Next up - a little Canuck is needed in every single American production - either in front of the camera, or behind, it's just a fact. Anyhow, the granddaughter of Tabitha has been cast. Darcy from Degrassi: The Next Generation, Shenae Grimes will be Annie Mills. So we have hot daughter of ex-olympian and high school principal pairing, granddaughter of former 70's star. Sounds like a fairly normal 90210 family dynamic to me.

When I watched Degrassi, the kids did not look like her. They looked like this and this (in fact, I was known to wear a headband like that from time to time - it was the 80s so shut up). You know, I heard that 90210 was inspired by the original Degrassi High - I wonder if that's true. Mah Google finger is obviously broken because I'm not about to go find out for myself.
Anyhow - I'm going to watch it. They are obviously running out of ideas in LaLaland because they keep refeeding me my childhood and teenage years. Or is that just because I'm the same age as the ideas people out there. Whatever - it will be worth a laugh don'tcha think?
